About The Artwork
Ripples of clear, refreshing aqua appear to move gently amongst soft turquoise and white against a backdrop of cool pale blue. Interspersed with slivers of silver wallpaper and topped with tiny white dots this is a reminder of a relaxing walk through shallow water on a hot day. This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The pattern continues around all sides, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists).The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity. THE LINEAR COLLECTION This series takes inspiration from the repetitive simplicity of minimalism with its precise geometry and blends it with explosive pattern and vibrant colour. Strips are cut from dried paint and laid by hand over the canvas often with the addition of wallpaper. By painting a variety of abstracts on plasticized surfaces I am able to remove the works when dry enabling a choice of which side of the strips to show. Each finished piece is, therefore, a unique blend of the usually visible with the often hidden.The more they are looked at the more there is to see.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
