This piece followed Swell No. 2, and they quickly became a dynamic set. In contrast, this piece has much more shadow, which to me indicates that the day is even later, and time is dwindling. The figures in this painting are diving in to the water one last time. Maybe they change out of their suits right there on the beach and put a sweatshirt on as it gets chillier and darker.

Kate Keery (b. 1998) is an American painter living in Brooklyn, New York. Her oil paintings capture everyday human interactions inspired by her coastal upbringing. With a romantic style and hyper-realistic technique, she uncovers beauty in the insignificant, highlighting the magic in unnoticed intimate moments. Keery studied painting at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Florence University of the Arts. Besides being a painter, she has experience as a curator and art instructor. Keery also worked with underprivileged populations globally, using art as a tool for advocacy.
