I love the National Geographic documentaries filming Antarctic penguins swimming under the ice fishing for food, they are so graceful, quick, and beautiful . . . I would love to swim so gracefully with them in all that delicious blue and silvery magic. Growing up in the desert region of Arizona, I learned the value of water as a precious life-giving resource and as a source of danger with the annual monsoons' flash floods. I love being in the water and am swimming, surfing, snorkeling whenever I can be. I am bonded with it spiritually . . . the movement of water and the changes that it brings about is a major inspiration in my artwork. I can get the brushes and paint to mirror unseen thought as opposed to the metal showing literal movement. I respond to the nebulous, the intuitive as it flows through me. Painting allows me to escape the physical. Painting is signed on the back, deep gallery wrap-edges are painted a coordinating color.

Flow . . . and the energy within. The energy that exists in the visible, as a wave crashing into the shore, and the invisible as thought: its effect on us and how we affect it down to the quantum level. This is what I and my art are about. The pieces I create speak to hope, change, enlightenment, transforming and becoming better, weathering the storms and learning to swim within the chaos. They offer a way to embrace shadow and find the wisdom and the light within it. As a multidisciplinary artist my creative focus is ever-expanding. The ideas and feelings I am driven to express now are more suited to the atmospheric possibilities of paint than the immediate tactility of metal. Expressing the ephemeral in a more visual way reflects the emotions that flow through my hands to the canvas. I can get the brushes and paint to mirror unseen thought as opposed to the metal showing literal movement. I respond to the nebulous, the intuitive as it flows through me. Painting allows me to escape the physical. INSPIRATION & SERIES:: I am visually inspired by the rich colors of oceans, forests, and flowers . . . by the perfect curve in the shape of a wave, the winding tendrils of vines and how they connect to everything around them. I am intrigued by Space visually and metaphorically. Images from the Hubble telescope utilizing UV and IR filters show us billions of galaxies and richly colored nebulae. Though separated by incomprehensible distances, they are the light within the darkness. These create the balance in my life. I am exploring six series: Conversations with the Stillness, Embracing Shadow, Listening to Water, Missing Hawaii, Emergent, and Illumination. Each has a philosophical approach building on the concepts of the previous one. They are my path of transformation to a place of contentment and understanding, of soul’s peace. A path that I offer to others to take as well.
