THE GOLDEN LOBSTER Painting

This vibrant piece was intended to have a sense rapid fluidity. Because the canvas is so long, a stark contrast was made when the main body of colors and textures was fixed to one side. I love letting the painting guide me by following something as seemingly random as an intriguing brushstroke, and then letting your original intentions be postponed to follow your intuition. In this painting wide panning brushstrokes were used to give a feeling of busting or reaching. With the addition of the gold in the foreground, the painting was able to begin to show some figurative properties, and that of a lobster. A golden lobster who seems to be caught in the midst of a wave crashing.
