"The Remaining Spirit" is a piece from the Tree Spirit series by artist Eaknath Tiansethakun. Measuring 120 x 120 cm, this work employs the technique of carved wood painted with ink and acrylic. The inspiration for this artwork comes from a tree growing around an ancient Buddha statue over 700 years old. This site is historically significant to the Lanna Kingdom during the reign of King Kuena. King Kuena, a ruler of Chiang Mai, had a deep devotion to Buddhism. During a river journey from Chiang Mai to Chiang Saen 700 years ago, King Kuena created a Buddha statue at a resting point. Today, the community has restored and renovated the area, naming the Buddha statue "Luang Por Yai Kuena," located at the religious site of King Kuena. "The Remaining Spirit" captures the historical and spiritual significance of the location through the use of wood carving and acrylic paint. This artwork reflects the connection between nature and the spirit of the community.
