This is a painting from my set of works, inspired by baroque opera "Artaserse"by Leonardo Vinci. This work is importatnt for me.
That time I was inspired by Modern Art of the early 20-s of the beginning of 20th century. So there were some paintings (some of them are in private collections now) influenced by Fernand Leger. These three faces were made from faces of three countertenours (Max Cencic, Franco Fagioli and Philippe Jaroussky). These were my first experiments with oil , when I turned from work with egg-tempera on wood to other materials.
There are mixed feelings based on my own impressions and thinking of beautiful heavenly voices and this wonderful show. This was an hommage to "Artaserse".

I started to draw and paint when I was thirty or something. I was influenced by icons and abstract painters. I made a lot of copies of medieval paintings and studied technology of egg-tempera. Later I I turned to sketching and drawing. I have been drawing since childhood. Studying classic artworks and copying of traditional icons helped me to compose my own things. Now I think I draw simply what I see and feel but in my own way. Rhytm of life and music is also very important for me.
