'Take me on your journey' was the first painting part of a new body of work which emerged soon after my own move from Pakistan to America.
It was a very big change in our lives, a very significant journey in our lives. Which got me thinking about what it means to be an immigrant, what it means to leave everything you have ever known behind in hopes for a better life for you and your family.
This new chapter in my life, triggered a whole new area of ideas that i wanted to explore in my art.
I mostly now work in mixed media, i like to push my mediums and tools.

Born and raised in Karachi- Pakistan, artist Najia Omer graduated from the Indus Valley College for Arts and Architecture. Najia, her husband and their baby boy immigrated to the United States in 2014 and chose the beautiful PNW to be their home. Najia’s work is deeply personal and evocative of the struggle faced by thousands of Americans over time. Like so many ‘newcomers’ before her, Najia finds herself exploring the enigmatic concept of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’ as it relates to letting go of her roots to ‘fit in’, while simultaneously struggling to hold on to the influences that shaped her as a woman. Najia currently lives and practices in Maple Valley, WA
