An intellectualized memory of the artist, Bangsal Dalam Kebun (translated as 'Shed in the Garden') is one among an entire series of memories visualized and shared by the artist of his days as a youth, growing up in Taiping, Perak. The 'Shed in the Garden' is a part of the artist's end lot living quarters, a shed built by his father as a storage unit, and where the artist played as child. The artist utilized his father's stored items as playthings: making smurf-like bridges and connections between the banana and cassava trees, as well as building a fantasy worlds in his mind as a typical child would enter into a similar dialogue with blocks of Lego. This piece invites the viewer to recall your moments of solitary creativity as a child - of creating your own toys and fantastic worlds from found items in your natural surroundings instead of having store-bought, commercial toys at your disposal. It is a narrative on returning to a pure state of innocence in human creativity, an intrinsic value in each and every one of us, instilled by birth and developed through childhood.
