About The Artwork

Where is the line between another glass of champagne and domestic drunkenness, between passion and domestic violence, between intoxication and tasting? Is there a line? Or is the line just a formality? Here you were friends, and already you are lovers. Here you were innocent, and already you are promiscuous. Is there a line? Look for it, maybe you can find it in this overly multi-faceted world.

My name is Daria Ivashkina (D.IVA)), I am a contemporary artist, art curator, organizer of exhibitions, sculpture symposiums and art residencies. By the age of 6 I had visited all the museums around with my grandmother, and at 7 I invented axonometry and peristyle. So after art school, the architecture department was waiting for me. I've always drawn. But I thought an artist was not serious, so I became an architect, a creator of art objects and urban sculpture. Participating in art symposiums all over the world allowed me to travel a lot, get acquainted with the work of my colleagues and get inspired. I have a lot of experience with art residencies and sculpture symposiums abroad. Geography from Canada to China. I've worked with Bartenev, Polunin, made objects at Archstoyanie and Vyksa, took part in preparations for the Sochi Olympics 2014. With a background in architecture, interior design, installation construction, art residencies and organizing sculpture symposiums I am studying to become an art critic. Until I get back to my core business, and I am an art curator and event producer in the art field, I think I will have time to create a few more series and enter the international market. I have my sculptures in a square in Canada, in a park in Korea, in a nature reserve in China, in private collections in Germany, Denmark, Estonia and France. And of course there are my works in different cities of Russia. Recent events in the world and the birth of my second child put my life on a new course. When I had a daughter, I had to leave all big art projects and fully immerse myself in this world of mimic smiles and sleepless nights. Many women will agree with me, maternity time is such a dubious paradise not for the faint of heart. As a creative person, I had to express it in a way that was accessible to me. Painting has helped me find a way to share the emotions that overwhelm me, relieve fatigue and see new inspirational frames in simple everyday things. I am now inspired by the Renaissance, the Pre-Raphaelites, David Hockney and René Magritte. I study psychology and art history. I put ideas in my work for those who will look at it in an exhibition or in their home. You need to be educated and attentive to understand the message I put into my paintings. Sometimes I use works of masters of the past to transmit humanist ideas to the viewer. After all the ideas of harmony, happiness, motherhood, love, light and joy of life are eternal.
