ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Title: Tea and Sugar Size: 11 x 14 inches Medium: Oil on canvas These paintings reflect a tranquillity and peacefulness that I desire instead of what is going on in my present life. These paintings are projected positive moments and emotions. I have always believed that our thoughts create our lives and that what our mind dwells on actually comes to pass. The colours I have chosen transmit hope, joy and happiness. These works are about the transmission of positive energy into an environment and eventually into the world. These paintings also speak of gratitude. At one time in my life, My dad said a prayer of gratitude before every meal. At times there wasn’t any food on my table, yet I remained grateful for shelter, warmth and the kindness of strangers. Each one of these works of art is handcrafted and unique. There are no two alike. Like this work of art, each painting and drawing tells a story and is part of a more extensive, complex series of paintings and drawings. If you wish to know more about this work of art, please feel free to contact us. It comes accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Stewart Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years. His paintings, drawings and works on paper are part of several private international collections in over 20 countries and in 36 American States. Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts beyond the representational image. The great equalizer he believes is when one's clothing is removed. All identifiers and societal statuses disappear and the real person appears. Fletcher does not believe that his work is erotic, however some people do because of their social, religious and regional upbringing. He often uses humour and satire to convey his views on the world around him..
