Tender Painting

This portrait was inspired by my search and exploration of diverse facial features around the globe, in this study I have a specific focus on Antiguan and Barbudan individuals. With a realistic approach, I aimed to capture and study the unique facial characteristics of my subject, using a monotone palette to emphasize their features. The inspiration for this work came from my fascination with human diversity and the beauty found in distinct facial traits. I hope viewers will feel a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the rich variety of facial features that exist across different cultures. Through this portrait, I want them to contemplate the individuality and uniqueness that can be found in every face. I aim to shed light on the diversity within the communities and contribute to a broader understanding of global human diversity. I chose the medium of painting in ink for its ability to create precise and detailed renderings. This allowed me to study and capture the strong facial features. The monotone approach was intentional, as it eliminated the distraction of colour and emphasized the focus on the subject's features. The realistic style was chosen to accurately portray the subject and provide an engaging visual experience for viewers, inviting them to appreciate the beauty of diverse facial characteristics.
