Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.
This art was made right after my stay in Glasgow. I was there to study Eastern European History as part of my Erasmus programme. My interest in the history of Russia inspired me to make art in the Russian artistic geometric style of the time just after the Revolution.
Besides the Russian inspiration, the artwork is made with the memory of the Erasmus period. Not only my personal life, like (love)relationships and friendships that were created and experienced there, but also the philosophical context in which the Erasmus period took place inspired me to make an abstract visualisation of my four months abroad. Abstract, because the whole notion of Europe, the European Union and of a European Identity is as abstract as this painting itself.
