Helen Butler is a contemporary artist from London, making meditative, minimal paintings on canvas and paper, inspired by atmospheric colour and light. The work is informed through Artist Residencies, travel and periods of meditation retreat. She is currently based in Lisbon, Portugal. The painting itself is a meditative process. The works on paper are made in response to colours witnessed at a particular moment. The paintings on canvas go on a longer journey, made slowly from multiple layers of oil paint, into their own presence and radiance of colour. helenbutler.com @helenbutlerart
