ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Beginning - The first image in the series Gold Leaf is the calm that surrounds us. The movements in the picture are light and softly applied to the surface. The contrasts are restrained. The Beginning is part of my collection of work in the series of Gold Leaf over Plaster and mixed Media. The deep Gold harmonizes wonderfully with a deep black. I love the warm radiance of gold, which can also be captured in pictures and objects very well. - It is very different from a normal flat Painting. - Highly textured and reflective. - Matte parts and shiny gold leaf add depth and luminosity to the piece. - The composition wraps around the edges, making it visually intriguing from all angles. Raised under the influence of Pop Art, he became interested in painting and graphics early on. He was one of the first airbrush artists in Germany. After a few years of break, he returned to painting. Impressed by artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Mel Ramos whom he met in person he painted for a long time in Pop Art style. In the years 1996 and 1997 some exhibitions followed in Bremen until he moved to London to continue painting in the studio of a friend. There were also exhibitions. In 1998, a private television station showed a furniture collection he designed. The Städtische Galerie Bremen received a loan from one of his works, which hung for several years in the office of a Bremen senator.
