About The Artwork

"The Bridge" is a depiction of a transition in human life. Inspired by my own move from California to Spain, this mixed-media painting shows a one year journey from one state to another. Every rectangle represents a month of my first year of the move, forming a bridge over the turbulent waters of the unknown. Two small triangles at the beginning and the end of the journey mark the entry and the exit into the transition. Every color and texture of the rectangle corresponds to the feelings I had during that month. Some are plainer, others are denser or darker. Some are singular, others in the middle are blended together with a swirl of blood. Towards the second half of the year, rectangles gain stronger foundation (clay part), which allows them to become more intricate in their shape. The sky is full of fire streaks, as in fireworks or a war scene. And the whole journey, as intense as it seems, is watched and protected by a solemn green-eyed archangel. "The Bridge" is mentioned in my fiction novella "Bitchify Me", which can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Bitchify-Me-Elena-Emma/dp/1794471340 *** Я прощаю и прощаюсь с людьми, Позволяю ненавидеть себя. (C) 2017 TRANSLATED POETRY (ENGLISH) I forgive and say goodbye to my tribe Letting myself to be hated. The start is near. God lights the lights. Drama. Screams. Sons. Suitcases. I say goodbye to my dumbness, Which dusts with cobwebs at the lips And to a wild, feeble, sick emptiness In the exhausted lower abs above hips. I say goodbye ... and I'm afraid to pause, To release a fat dot in the chest, The one that boils up my path ... But I won’t choose anything else. (C) 2017 *** All original paintings include a certificate of authentication and a piece of original and translated poetry with an autograph attached to the back of the painting.

Elena Emma's unique painting and writing style exudes infinite inner depth and freedom. All of her paintings, completed with an illustrative playful touch, have a piece of unique, immensely deep poetry dedicated to them, contrasting the complexity of adult-like subjects with child-like strokes. As a diverse writer, emerging artist, startup consultant and entrepreneur, a professor, a mother of two boys, and a passionate, curious, and spiritual woman, Elena draws her inspiration from experiential fearlessness, deep observational analysis, continuous soul searching, and never-ending internal and external growth. Her visual and written stories, often told from a female perspective, concentrate on exploring the larger picture in business, love, and being. They stimulate the reader and the viewer with open-ended questions and strong encouragement to find his or her own truth. Her characters and situations are multi-dimensional, and through them, she often challenges widely-accepted designations of personal and professional, new and old, right and wrong, good and bad, blurring the preset differences between these terms, and offering new definitions. Elena is the authentic "voice" of her generation, of those born in the 1980s and 1990s to a world of distorted physical, geographical, and moral boundaries, who are yet to find balance between the inborn inner wisdom and cynical dissonance of outside happenings. Be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, or paintings, Elena Emma's artwork will leave you mildly teary-eyed and contemplative about your own daily existence and the changes you can make to it. THE SKY IS NO LIMIT.
