The Captured Zeitgeist Painting

Humans tend to have a strange relationship with the concept of their own bodies. In an almost arrogant way we attempt to separate ourselves from our physical vessel in many subconscious diversions and coping strategies one of which, as i realised, was noticeable in the idea of graveyards. They are a top tier example of the human attempt to metamorphose the human body into a monument. The physical transfiguration of the body into a work of art is something humanity tends to compulsively repeat in many aspects of its everyday life. Another example of this willful transformation are museums. The central figure of the painting, seemingly removed from time and space exists only in the constraints of its temporal prison. The museum display, which people gaze upon in an attempt to sense the aura of a bygone time, becomes its final resting place.
