About The Artwork

"Discover this unique artwork born from a striking photograph taken during a demonstration in front of the Barcelona City Council in Spain. In this event, a group of independentists dressed up as clowns to mock former President Mariano Rajoy, using costumes as masks to maintain anonymity. The protagonist of the artwork appears as a disguised wise king, with a clown nose and a suitcase, a symbol of travel suggesting the need for Rajoy to step down from the government. This act of dressing up and preserving anonymity is not only reflected in the demonstration but also in these faceless works, where each costumed individual becomes a collective expression. Explore the richness of these artistic pieces that capture creativity and social critique, allowing people to express themselves without revealing their identity. Immerse yourself in this impactful and reflective message about the value of anonymity as a form of authentic expression in contemporary art."

Yalili Mora ( Cuba, 1972) is a visual artist based in Barcelona. She has earned a BA from the National School of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba. She is a former member of the extinct Cuban collectives Grupo Punto and Coordenada Arte-Sur. Among her solo shows are included Portraits without Apparent Faces at the Cultural Centre Sant Agustí, Barcelona, Spain (2021) and Installations at the Ludwig Foundation (1999); as for her participation in group shows, Yalili Mora’s work has been included in Art Nostre 19, Alicante Biennial of Visual Arts, Spain (2021); Inventario: Grupo Punto 20 años at the Ludwig Foundation in Havana, Cuba (2015) and While Cuba Waits: Art from the Nineties at Track 16 Gallery, Los Angeles, USA (1999).
