About The Artwork

In aesthetic evaluation it is important how the garments themselves are made and how they stand, as well as how they are worn and matched with other garments. The desired consistency may extend to the material, color, or pattern of each piece. The woman in the Kalotaszeg for example begins to assemble the woman's outfit with the skirt. You can choose a casual work skirt or an even simpler, washable, city-going skirt for various cheerful or mournful festive occasions; including winter and summer and many colors. In recent years, we have known a woman from Kalotaszeg who has a choice of 30 skirts. Each of the skirts defined the range of other garments she could wear. Among these, the apron and headscarf, which had to be precisely matched in material, color, and pattern, were considered decisive in terms of appearance. These smaller pieces had more copies of a woman than a skirt: for example, she had about 100 headscarves. Thus, alternating between them may have been particularly sensitive to the expression of the occasion, and partly to the pursuit of diversity, e.g. not to dress similarly on successive Sundays.

Statement My topics are the connection between human and nature, and the environmental awareness inherent in folk traditions. How to strengthen the relationship between man and nature. Nature was associated with God, the universe, spiritual well-being. Folk tradition raises a child for the love of life and creatures. For the individual, knowing and following the traditions meant protection, identity consciousness, and fusion into the community. My works on human figures unfold in an illustrative, powerful style in their relationship with the environment and folk tradition. Not only the folk costumes, but also the style of the 70’s, 80’s have a big impression on my art. My name is Eszter Szabó and I was born in 1979. I finished my studies in 1997 as a decorative painter in B.D. Art School. After that I could work in my profession for a few years. When I worked in my profession, I could restaurate the frescos and walls in the biggest archives in Hungary with a respectable company.
