"The Cream, The Bone, The White, The Off-White, The Ivory, or The Beige,” is a novelty piece in honour of the great cricket commentator, Richie Benaud. Created in late 2023 and released in January of 2024 during his beloved Sydney Test Match, this painting is one I had wanted to do for some time. For generations of Australians, Richie was the voice of summer during a golden era of Australian cricket commentary that included such iconic names as Bill Lawry, Tony Greig, Ian Chappell, Ian’s brother Greg, and the uniquely Australian Max Walker. To Australian cricket fans of a certain age the title of this artwork needs no explanation. To everyone else, well, I guess you just had to be there. The artwork itself is a heavily textured piece, with carefully selected tones of cream, bone, white, off-white, ivory, and beige ... and I think it’s m-a-r-v-e-l-l-o-u-s! "The Cream, The Bone, The White, The Off-White, The Ivory, or The Beige,” is an original acrylic on deep-edge high quality stretched canvas, ready to hang. 3 layers of UV protective non-yellowing clear varnish have been applied after curing.

After pursuing carpentry as a school leaver, restless feet have led me to every continent except Antarctica, and have walked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, inside the Great Pyramid in Egypt, and atop Uluru. A subsequent career in mining led me to WA and the NT before I returned to Victoria as a new father, where I ended up also caring for my mother after an assault left her with a severe brain injury. As carer, I was able to complete a Degree in Psychology from Deakin University aged 37, before my mother eventually succumbed during my Honours year. Collectively, these life experiences gave birth to an intense spiritual journey and quest for meaning and purpose. With a new love, my wife Angie, we escaped to rural Victoria in 2017 and transformed our modest property into both a sanctuary for our souls, and a safe space for our creative freedoms to flourish. We live here with our respective studios, craftsman's workshop, veggie garden, rescue cats, and my son. With Angie’s nurturing and guidance, it is here that I found art.
