I am attracted to the bright colors and flashing movement of Native American dancers. I use confetti-like color spots flying across the canvas to enhance the effect of motion. Wintu tribes live in northern California where I live and often give demonstrations of their cultural heritage.

Greaves' medium of choice has been, almost exclusively, oil paint, like this work. She finds that it is a very flexible medium, allowing a variety of approaches, with color harmonies that range from breathtakingly clear and pure to subtly muted and delicate.
