ABOUT THE ARTWORK

These paintings are made through a process of mono-print and expressionist mark making. The strong, black shapes hint at two figures that are possibly wearing some kind of oriental traditional dress, such as a Qipao. The paintings are displayed here as a suggestion on how they might look hung together when framed. To make it clear, the price + does not + include the frames. The artworks are on paper and then adhered for extra durability on another sheet of heavyweight paper and will arrive carefully packaged in individual rolls so you can frame the art works in a way that suits you. Finally, the dimension of each painting is 84 cm height x 56 cm width but when framed and hung together the dimensions will be approximately 100 cm height x 125 cm width.

My interest in art started at an early age. I remember seeing books at home where I grew up in the 1970's. The books were about impressionism, surrealism and my favourite showed art from the DADA movement. In my teens I became obsessed with Andy Warhol and it was at this point that I realised making art was what I wanted to do. The Paintings you see on my Saatchi Art platform are in chronological order. The first paintings were made in 2018. They were created very precisely and accurately and are influenced by minimalist ideas. Through 2019 my work moved away from minimalist abstractions and started to veer more towards an expressionist style. Through 2020 and going into 2021, I am exploring ideas that attempt to strike a balance between a minimalist mindset and the spontaneity of an expressionist. The paintings are created using acrylic on heavyweight paper and sometimes I use charcoal, graphite and oil pastel. In the next few month I will be starting to execute my larger paintings on canvas.
