Whilst sitting in the garden, on a fine summers day, a large dragonfly zoomed by my head. Its beauty enchanting, I observed it as it finally rested on a set of canes where sweet peas were growing. Clasping onto the cane it seemed to observe me as I observed it, watching each other in ore, as I quickly sketched him down. Inspired by this 'The Dragonflies Perch' was created in to this piece of three dimensional textiles art, were a number of technique were used including fabric painting, embroidery, quilting, applique and sheer work. All my work is framed, signed and mounted where possible. Due to the three dimensional nature of my work, most are displayed in box frames. This allow the piece to be viewed at different angles making the most of the detailing and gives a professional finish. Each frame is custom made by framing professionals in the UK, giving the best possible finish for the individual piece of artwork. Pieces are framed with a 2mm Crystal Clear ' XT ' Plexiglass, which is the modern, clean & safe acrylic alternative to traditional glass glazing. It is crystal clear, shatterproof and conforms to the latest BSI safety standards. Each piece of framed artwork comes with a hanging kit. This piece is framed in a charcoal grey frame with a white mount. For more photos of this piece and it in its frame please visit my website

As a keen artist you will often find me wondering the British countryside, overseeing with a keen eye mother nature at her finest, snapping and sketching the characteristics of all kinds of creatures. From the smallest insect hiding in the warmth of the long grass to the vast landscapes that cover the horizon. I ask why look anywhere else when such beauty is to been seen? I use a wide range of techniques to create three dimensional textiles that capture aspects of nature that I have found beautiful. This beauty I find serves as a reminder of the importance of the natural world, and how we should endeavour to preserve it, this idea has particular importance in society today.
