About The Artwork

Mixed media on canvas panel This work was inspired by colors of the byzantine icon of St. Peter. I was looking through some reproductions and just stuck on that icon because of the earth colors and some turquoise and green color accents. So I decided to use this wonderful colot combination in some abstract artwork. And theh I just let my intuition take control over the painting. I like painting abstracts because the final effect is always a surprise. And this time I just let the art flow through my hands. And after I finished I took a pause and then looked at the result. The whole process was not intentional and afterwards I saw at the painting the whole world of life forms living in the earth. That's why I titled the painitng THE EARTH. I think that all the diversity of different creatures in our world is the best evidence that the Earth is not an effect of some coincidence but the most genious piece of art created by God. There's also another similar artwork on that topic, painted at the same time, called THE EARTH part II. So the series could be used as a diptych but also as an independent artwork as well.

Hanna Borowska is a mixed media artist based in Poland whose painitngs are in private collections in 3 countries - Belarus, Ukraine and Poland. She participated in group exhibitions nationally (years 2013-2018). Borowska believes that a piece of art is something that should be made by hand, not with electronic devices. She is convinced that living in the era of technology and virtual life is the reason why people often feel lost and lack of real warmth, kindness, affection. Hanna claims that traditional art is the best way to affect our mental condition, to help us feel like humans again. Her artworks are about our emotional life and inner world of views, fears, hopes and believes. Her painitngs are full of symbols, metaphors, spiritual references and hidden meanings. Borowska paints the world around us as a reflection of our psychological condition.
