About The Artwork

The image of the dragon, a symbol of an unrivaled prestige was appropriate by the feudal rulers, turning it into a sign of the the Emperors "Virtue" and the "Heavenly Authority". During the Han and Tang dynasties and the following dynasties a number of the Emperors and other feudal rulers called themselves an incarnation of the descendants of dragon. This painting represents this ideology and I have used modern and ancient references to describe the background to the painting.
