"The Explanation of Charlie ‘Bad Man’ Sifford" Painting

Original Painting This collection is culture inspired pop-art that features a “black hero” as the main character in the piece. I also describe my new art collection as a mixture of The Simpsons + Supreme cartoon style of artwork with a Wakanda + FUBU flavor. The goal is to have each piece strike a conversation and I would like to start that conversation with #CharlieSifford, The first African-American to play on the PGA tour. Charlie Sifford was an African-American championship golfer who was instrumental in desegregating the PGA, and overall striping out the offensive "Caucasian Only" membership clause from its bylaws. In all, Sifford would compete in some 422 PGA tournaments, coming in second twice, registering five third-place finishes, and winning nearly $350,000 in prize money. On the senior circuit, he was equally successful, winning the 1975 Seniors' Championship and collecting $930,000 in winnings.
