About The Artwork
It was August 2013. I returned home from ten days vacation at the Adriatic Sea, and before that I already had intense year with lots of painting and exploring human figure. But with this painting something changed. I paint it in one night in total delirium, and I wasn’t drunk or something like that. I was just really sad that day and not in the mood for painting, but somehow I forced myself to paint hoping that this bad feelings will go away. And I was surprised, it worked. I was painting in trance, feeling nothing bad and that gave me confidence, faith in myself. I felt somehow free. But I didn’t know what I was doing really; this was the first time I painted without any planning, without any thoughts of what or how should I paint. I just started and expected nothing from it. I just let it go. And somehow I realized I was painting self-portraits. First from memory, and then took few quick selfies with my iPhone to make painting easier. After several hours I fall asleep in front of the canvas. When I woke up, I was surprised what I did. Five spontaneous self-portraits. It was one of the freest paintings I made. Painted not from mental projections of my mind, not from my head who wants to control everything what I do, but from my deeper inner place, my belly and my heart. Primordial place where exist only me and just me, without any unnecessary emotions and fears. So in the end I was feeling really good, not just because of this new painting but because of this new feelings of change, of freedom. Acrylic on canvas. Unframed. 2013.

From Croatia (Europe), born 1985. Exploring life through art; painting, writing, photography, music... I am interested in human experience and the experience of life itself wherever it can be seen, or even imagined; apropos experience of existence in any form. There are no subjects or themes that do not attract me, just some elements of life attracts my attention more than the other. Human being is mostly in the center of my interests. I am interested in his/hers inner "universe", this energy which he radiates and how outside world affects his inner feelings. I do not observe only the external, physical uniqueness, but I'm actually more interested in interior of human beings and in the energy with which they glow. That's why I try to reveal the infinity of our reality and the richness of life itself. The figures in my paintings often do not fit completely, they are mostly cut out of the frame. It is because I offer only a limited part of their world, in a way that is assumed that this is only a window into reality which is much greater than it is completely shown. So, in that way I give space for the imagination of the viewer for his own interpretation. Time is another important element in my paintings. They are all representations of a single moments of a certain realities. So my paintings might just capture moments, or realities that are part of this or some other dimensions of existence. Because I believe that there are more truths to this world, and I'm here just to explore this truths and ask questions.
