CARPETS My mother’s childhood home in Baghdad was castle-like. When she and I visited Windsor Castle years ago, my mother suddenly exclaimed: "Look, Eli! We had at home a carpet exactly like this one!" Who knows, maybe the Queen of England "bought" my mother’s carpet after mother had to leave her home. A collage of cloth and paper resembling a fringed prayer shawl meeting a carpet of oceans and skies. Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav wrote "try with all your might, to make a new beginning, and to live with great joy." These words are repeated over and over again to weave the body of the garment. Only limited edition prints are available.

Eliahu Dallal is a painter currently living and working in Tel Aviv, after living in London and Barcelona. Born to parents who immigrated to Israel from Iraq, Dallal considers himself a product of the fusion of diverse influences and identities. His work deals with the zone of negotiation between Eastern and Western cultures in an abstract fashion, utilizing written words in Hebrew, Arabic, English and Spanish in combination with color and form. Most of Dallal's works are acrylic on large sheets of paper or canvas, utilizing a technique he has developed of applying many thin layers of transparent paint in order to create a sense of depth and luminosity.
