ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This spring I received a Longtail photo from my old friend in Bermuda asking me to paint it. He even sent me a permission from photographer who took a photo of this beautiful bird. The White-Tailed Tropical Bird is a national symbol of Bermuda islands. Their impressions can be seen on many things including on coins, jewellery, houses, pottery and even local money. It’s a big bird 70-80 cm long with a wing span of 85-95 cm. The Longtails have a black mark on the wings and also in the eye, their bill is yellow-orange. Watching Longtails is an opportunity to consider the deeper meaning of life. Their elegance and beauty holds an eye, and their playfulness and joy tug the soul. The birds exclude a freedom we can all aspire to. I admired the Longtails when I was in Bermuda in 2022
