Like all artists I have inspirations and ideas that just need to be put down on paper or canvas. I generally work with pastels, charcoals and oil paints. I draw my inspiration from many sources but my biggest influences have mostly been figurative artworks from the old renaissance masters, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Durer, etc. I've also always been in love with surrealist art and artists like Salvador Dali with his far out creativeness. I love painters like Frank Frazetta and Van Gogh with their boldness of color and execution. I try to emulate and create visually stimulating pieces with humor or a twist that might get the viewer thinking. I want my artwork to reflect the best of all my various influences. I also have 13+ years of commercial art experience as an Art Director for several Advertising Agencies in North Carolina and Colorado where the work I directed won numerous industry awards. I returned to my fine arts roots in 1992 when I left the advertising industry and have since devoted my artistic interests to more personal projects. I’ve been fortunate to have been honored locally in North Carolina with many private commissions and several Fine Arts awards: Best of Show for pastel entitled “Alice in Green” in the 1999 FALC Fall Show Cary Mayor’s Award for my pastel “Self Portrait” 2000 FALC Spring Show Honorable Mention for the pastel “Red Hat” at the 2000 FALC Fall Show Two 2nd place ribbons at the 2014 and 2016 NC State Fairs 3rd place ribbon 2014 FALC Annual Members Show for pastel “Cat Dreams” 2nd place ribbon for 2016 FALC Annual Members Show “Mona Rocks” 2nd place ribbon for 2016 FALC Senior Show for pastel “Petra in Pink” And many Honorable Mention ribbons I can be reached at the following email address .
