The Lighthouse at Stoer Painting

Stoer Lighthouse is far up north, on the west coast of Scotland. Located on Stoer Head, north of Lochinver in Sutherland, North West Scotland. I went there with some friends in October and this is from a walk we did around the light house. It was a beautiful day but a bit chilly. It is an image of my dog Percy, myself and my friend Alex. Nadja took the photograph. (if you're interested the Lighthouse is now self catering accommodation). I don't like to do faces - portraits, and when I do I blur them. I want the viewer to be able to enter the image. To imagine themselves in the painting. It's a funny thing we can do, us humans, project our-selves into images. I think when a face is too recognisable it hinders this ability. I have been blurring the lines between Photography and other mediums for a long time. The photograph is my starting point, I'm interested in what one can do to it, how can it transform and into what? I like to chose "real life" subjects from my photo-diary; friends, places I've been to, things I've seen and done.
