Art Description

Painting: Watercolor, Chalk, Charcoal, Conte, Graphite on Paper.

This mixed media sketch is part of a series of works inspired by the painting “The Battle of Anghiari” or “The Lost Leonardo”. The Battle of Anghiari was fought in 1440, between Milan and Florence, a victory for the Florentines. The battle is well known for its depiction in the now-lost painting by Leonard da Vinci. The battle lasted all day, involving several thousand troops, it was said that only one soldier was killed. After four hours of skirmishing the single death occurred “when a soldier fell off his horse”.
