Artist Statement Emotions, reflections, fragments of memories, a little mystery but also optimism are present in my works. Passionate about travel, I brought images from everywhere, often fixed only on the film of memory: sensations and feelings related to different light depending on the area, the sky at various stages of day and night, the passing of seasons, the sound of waves, the rustle of the forest. The connections that occur at the level of the mind lead to the creation of my paintings, the spontaneity of the execution being present in this whole process. All these give me the opportunity to be sincere and honest living every moment with the feeling of joy inherent in the newly created world based on love, harmony and balance. Biography Nicoleta Gaiginschi is a Physician and Visual Artist living in Iasi, Romania. She is a member of the Visual Artists’ Union of Romania in Iasi. “The human act of painting is related to the demiurgic action of the emerging universe”. Francois Cheng Mrs. Gaiginschi has always been attracted to the Oriental culture, philosophy, poetry, art, medicine captivated her and directed her steps towards painting. Her works enter an expressive field contoured by a mixture of Western and Oriental artistic thinking, connecting Asian calligraphy to American abstract expressionism- Action Painting (gestural painting), both of which are based on the gesture. The rendered images result from her inner landscapes, moments of time being intersected by feelings of emotion and sincerity. In Asian calligraphy (Japanese and Chinese) the brush strokes touch the time and the harmonious relationships between the lines shape the space. The artist controls the energy of the line through rhythm, a rhythm that determines the movements of the hand and the brush, merging the inner tensions created by the rhythms of the world. There are unique moments that Mrs. Gaiginschi lives in the realization of each work, moments in which she incorporates emotions, fragments of memories, feelings. Her works are made on canvas or rice paper, using brushes of various sizes. She uses oil and/or acrylic colors for canvas, and for rice paper she uses black ink and/or acrylic. Regarding the chromatics, some works are in black and white, others use different colors depending on the composition and the mood.
