About The Artwork
Each color shape is a separate piece of painted canvas, except for the white circles screen printed onto the beige shapes. The pieces have been sewn together to create a sense of depth and composition. The small circles above the octopus's head are glass attached to the canvas that you can see through holes in the fabric. The octopus is a symbol of modern consumerism and busy-ness. With it's eight arms it can complete multiple tasks and snatch various things, but in this contracted pose it chooses to dwell on it's potential energy instead.
