ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I painted this watercolor on site in Nazareth, Israel. I had just arrived in this beautiful old town, the afternoon light was golden, and I was on a roof top with perfect view of the cascading buildings, shingled roofs that appeared to be stacked against the hillside, with steep staircases and narrow ancient roads. It is a happy painting, very colorful and bright. The underlying initial pencil sketch is still visible below the watercolors. I painted it in the quick style of the impressionist painters, a visual sketchbook memory of sorts — if you have been to this beautiful ancient place full of history, legend and myth, you will be able to feel, see and even smell what this magical place is like! The artwork is signed and dated on the back. Painted on 'Stillman & Birn' cold press ivory 270g premium heavy paper.
