This is in my signature style using granules of ground glass, fused to sheets of steel. The technique involves fusing specks of pure pigment to the metal that is used as a base. The firings are made many times over, at both high and low temperatures, using both opaque and transparent glass. The technique was christened ‘Diaphanism’ by Salvador Dali – a term that has now entered the Oxford English Dictionary. This image was used as the rear cover for the album 'Defector' by the guitarist Steve Hackett, from British rock group Genesis.

I'm a Brazilian artist working in Rio and London. My unique technique of glass fused on steel plate was baptised ‘Diaphanism’ by Salvador Dali and my work has been exhibited worldwide. It also features on record sleeves and in a book illustrating the lyrics of British rock band Genesis. I'm very proud to be one of only four Brazilians cited in noted critic Edward Lucie-Smith’s ‘Art Today’ from Phaidon – regarded as a bible amongst art collectors. I'm also known for my jewellery designs, mostly creating one-off sculptural pieces.
