ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In this piece, I am revisiting a concept that I explored throughout my undergraduate studies. The series that this painting takes after shaped who I am as an artist. My work deals with issues of human reaction, specifically the fundamental binary opposition within. The juxtaposition of high and low value reflect conflict and contradiction of the self. The heavy line on the opposite value show the deep contrast of perception vs. reality.

I am a minimalist and expressionist painter residing in Salt Lake City, Utah. My work deals with issues of the many layers of human emotion, specifically the fundamental binary opposition within. My work searches for evidence of former selves. The internal tugs from who we are and a who we once were. Versions of people long since covered up and covered again by time, leaving only glimpses from beneath. Whit earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree with an emphasis in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah. She is currently painting and traveling, as well as teaching Fine Art and Art History.
