VIEW IN MY ROOM
Size: 60 W x 48 H x 1.5 D in
This is a an image of the neighborhood that I grew up in. I like painting sections on top of one another how I remember them and how they made me feel at the time. The X's represent places that I shouldn't or couldn't go. The perspective is set a bit higher up because of a photographic memory about a time when my bus was pulled over and stopped in the middle of the street because a student brought a gun on the bus. I'd like for people to see the beauty through the story.

My art is a prism that translates my mind to the world. Without it, I feel fragmented and disconnected. I see the world in still frames. It is how my most impactful memories are catalogued in my mind. Overtime, memories become grey and unclear. I have learned to leverage patterns, unique perspectives, and unorthodox color treatments to tell my stories. The visual associations are then overlaid on one another, and arranged in unique compositions to challenge conventional fluidity.
