About The Artwork
This body of work is influenced by being part of a family where Welsh culture, although highly respected, is also subtle and understated. This eloquent Celtic influence lies deep within her subconscious from which her work explores her sense of place. She interprets places that are important to her whilst deciphering memories and intrusively delving into the emotion of security and fear of the unknown with a nostalgic essence. By capturing light, movement and atmosphere effortlessly in her work the onlooker becomes swathed within it; lost in a moment in time where they question their own sense of space and its impact on their own emotions and memories.

Born in the welsh rural village of Horeb, in the heart of Ceredigion, Tirion Haf Rees grew up on her parents smallholding. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and livestock, from an early age Tirion developed an interest in Art and Crafts. Having completed her A levels at Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, she went onto complete the Foundation in Arts Diploma at Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthen. Currently she is studying a Fine Art Degree in Drawing Painting and Print Making in Coleg Sir Gar, Carmarthen as part of the Trinity University for Wales. Her work has been exhibited in Arad Goch, Aberystwyth; The National Botanical Gardens, Carmarthen and Greenspace Gallery, Carmarthen. Her families history of breeding Welsh Cobs; involvement with Eisteddfods and her grandfathers poetry, Tirion tends to use all of these influences in her work.
