This painting is a symbolic representation of a Norse seeress, or völva, who practices seiðr, a form of magic that involves discerning and shaping fate. She is in a trance-like state, receiving visions from Odin, the god of wisdom, poetry, and magic. The dark blue background suggests the depth and mystery of the abyss, where Odin sacrificed his eye for knowledge. The light blue strokes indicate the flow of time and the threads of destiny that the seeress can weave or unravel. Her posture expresses vulnerability and concentration, as she listens to the whispers of the unseen. She is both a seeker and a revealer of hidden truths, a conduit between the earthly and the divine realms.
