I began this painting in 2014 and set it aside because I didn’t feel as if I had reached "the mark". This work is about imposed border walls while also pondering past civilizations that were rooted in these very areas. This painting was revised in 2017.

My paintings and collages have a narrative quality - as if revealing a scene from a story in progress. Central to most of "my stories" is a female figure who is often accompanied by recurring animal guides like spotted eagle rays, wolves or birds. Environmental, social or other commentary might also weave their way into my work, although it's voice is often subtle.
