About The Artwork

‘The band played on Tiger Club & Woodoo at Chomp, Bangkok’ is the complete title of the painting. This local band was great fun at a small venu in Bangkok, yes ‘Chomp’ … an interesting combo of percussions & didgeridoo at the restaurant. Musicians make a lovely subject for me to interpret in my loose and expressionist way, inspired by the band’s music. acrylic colour on Terschelling raw watercolour paper 22 x 30 inches. Here I used a raw paper, which takes the paint quite differently from a pressed paper. More blotter effect, and the result is rich. The close up pictures are of higher resolution to give a better sense of the paint, paper and the brush stroke. Then there’s the work in progress and the photoshoot. Interested to have your idea painted in this style, maybe a group picture, with friends or family? Contact me.

I'm Canadian born now residing in Malaysia. I've been working professionally as an artist since 1980 ish… time flies. I have exhibited my paintings in Vancouver and coastal B.C., Bangkok, Singapore & Malaysia, areas I’ve lived in over time. Now I do it all online. I’ve traveled extensively over the years and you’ll see that people, places and cultures are a recurring theme in my art. I attach importance to papers I use for my paintings. Some are done on acid free watercolour papers, from 180lb weight to 300lb. I also use handmade parchment type papers. These are thick yet pliable, strong, with deckled edge that add to the look of my paintings. I’m still a passionate guy. I’m passionate about life and people, passionate about art and painting. And I feel really at my best when I’m putting all these things down on paper. I only wish I had more time to delve into all these activities of mine. But I work with what I have. My health sucks so I’m slowing down. And there's more: book illustration, portrait, comic strip, caricature. I also work with camera and computer, to create the images brush strokes just can't deliver. So follow my brush work and hopefully you’ll find that special painting meant just for you.
