The holy family is having a snack. Painting

My paintings I offer at Saatchiart I summarize under the title "home". I work with photo albums of my own family, with photographies that I get from clients or with photos that I purchase. Many of the works which are included in this series I draw in oil on burlap. Burlap is a very raw material and I think it fits well to illustrate a time that no longer exists. Because I´m interested in every person´s attitude, it´s charisma and it´s setting I work a long time on every detail. I took this photo of my privat album. It shows my parents, me (in the middle and with an owl on the bib of the trousers) and my siblings. Every summer we spend our holidays in a cottage in Bavaria which my parents purchased in the late seventies. At first glance, it seems that the people are completely occupied with themselves and only the child in the center sought eye contact with it´s father. In fact, the mother unites with the son, while at the same time making contact with her husband by handing over the termoscan. The father keeps the child in the upper right edge of the picture in view, so that it does not "fall out" of the entire family situation. The "holy family" is meant ironically: my father was a pastor. We knew very well all church things and knew how to behave as pastor children. In the end everything was not as sacred as it had to be outwardly presented.
