I used to paint things that looked like things. However, my subconscious did not approve. After a while, it began rebelling and sabotaging my works. I am now in the process of slowly regressing from the realm of figurative and representational art, to a determined, yet downright silly pursuit of something that I am still not entirely sure of. I pursue this unknown blindly and purposefully, with the will of a shark pursuing the scent of blood on the water.  I spend my days chasing the elusive thing around the streets of Dublin, just waiting to capture and preserve the muse for all eternity. This process involves painting what I see - en plein-air most of the time. Other times, I stay indoors for fear of the weather.  On some of my journeys, I have been lucky enough to make sightings of some extremely rare and exclusive species, who have come to occupy distinguished positions in my work - dragons; Bigfoot; the common house cat. I believe that these creatures are gifted to me from the great beyond, guiding the direction of my work to my final destination - a “Eureka!” moment which will blaze brighter than the sun, revealing the purpose of all my searching, and the secrets of the cosmos.  You might find me grasping for clues down the canal, in an alleyway, or in one of the Fair City’s many lush parks. I like to be surrounded by leaves, and feel a particular affinity with herons. I don’t recall ever having received any awards, but if anyone wants to refer to me as “award-winning”, that’s fine. I always welcome compliments and snacks from strangers.
