Our world is rather dark at times, so my work sometimes reflects that. But ultimately, it celebrates life with all its strength and joy. I prefer vibrant colours and a style of abstract realism. Enough realism to express my thoughts and enough abstraction to reveal my feelings.

Discovering that digital painting gives him unbridled creativity, French-born Thailand based Lenatee creates art that celebrates life's sometimes dismal but ultimately joyful experiences **************** I paint from my heart about how I feel about life. Our world is rather dark at times, so my work sometimes reflects that. But ultimately, I celebrate life with all its strength and joy. I prefer vibrant colors and a style of abstract realism. Enough realism to express my meaning and enough abstraction to reveal my feeling. I started painting in my 20s using oils and acrylic. Life then gently turned me away from art. Until I bought a computer, on impulse, late in the afternoon of a gorgeous sunny day in January 2019. I discovered a pen in the box, started doodling, and off I went into the world of digital painting! Digital painting allows me the same creative joy I enjoyed with oils or acrylics. I miss the tactile fleshiness, but I love the unique subtle techniques, tones, shades, and colors. I paint using an Ipad, mainly through Procreate (though increasingly Fresco and Photoshop too). **************** My art cuts from three shades of inspiration My imaginary friends: These are my most intimate works, straight from the gut. They always focus on a face or figure, created in a few strokes, followed with extensive work on shapes, balance, color and texture. The people in my life: These pieces are based on photos of real people (family, friends, or strangers). I manipulate and paint upon this base image to create a dream like state of emotion, rich and fluid. The places in my life: These pieces are based on photos of places that catch my eye. I feel more detached when I paint places, so the emotions are more subtle and controlled. A bit of a tamer version of myself, I guess.
