Alvīne Bautra (b.1990) is a Latvian contemporary painter. The portrait painting compositions embody the feeling of movement in slow motion. Her painted faces are in ceaceless intermediate states. These are snapshots between what was and what will be. The zooming on the faces or the seemingly calm figures are never frozen because the state of peace is utopian. The figures dance within themselves, allowing the movement of the soul, giving themselves to a peculiar trance when revelation occurs unconsciously. The artist considers movement as a metaphor of human being, the human multi-layered nature, diversity and also uncertainty. Through the paintings she outlines the complicity of human mind and body in the existence. In 2019 graduated from Art Academy of Latvia, MA in Painting. She enriched knowledge at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee in Germany (2014) and at Estonian Academy of Arts (2018). In 2018 she received Brederlo – von Sengbusch art prize. In 2019 and 2020 she has been nominated as one of the finalists in painting contest Young Painter Prize. In 2019 included in art book “100 Artists of the Future” and in 2020 “100 [HUNDRED] Photographize Best Selected 2020 Vol. 01”.
