Gilda Schaffer is an acrylic painter and multi-media artist currently living in Miami, Florida. Born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, Gilda moved to the United States 22 years ago with her husband and then 2 year old son to pursue new career opportunities. She later had her second child. Gilda is a Systems Analyst and worked in the field for 3 years until she decided to make the significant shift of becoming trained as a Clinical Psychologist both in Uruguay and the United States. While working as a Psychologist, Gilda always continued developing her passion for abstract painting. She started her career as an artist in 1988 with the well known uruguayan painter Hugo Longa until his death in 1990. Hugo Longa became an inspiration for Gilda's for acrylic and multi-media. Gilda continued her studies at "Instituto de Bellas Artes" in Uruguay for 2 years and always continued attending courses and workshops in the different cities she lived including New York, Pittsburgh, Chicago and now Miami. A lover of long walks and travel, Gilda Schaffer is able to transmit what is being introjected as a result of the combination of her work as a psychologist and the elaboration that nature allows being able to express what comes from it. Through the use of acrylic painting and combining different materials, Gilda's intention is to express the internal world that results from the intertwining of her patients' and own's stories. By combining brilliant and vibrant colors the inner world is being expressed in a magical way that makes the observer curious and immediately engaged.
