Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Other.

A portrait of Winston Churchill to be in the exhibition, Tommy Fiendish E8 at Dantzig gallery in the town of Woodstock, Oxfordshire. 30/11/2019. Birthplace of Winston Churchill.
It's very rare for me to do portraits of famous figures but I felt this one was fitting.
Capturing Winston in a thinking pose, the weight of his task playing heavy on his mind. Painted with an RAF Symbol in the background on what could be perceived as a metal panel.
I wanted it to not be a photo realistic piece but for the viewer to be very aware they are looking at a painting. Using sketch marks and leaving a section of the linen exposed gives a good backdrop for the monochrome portrait.
Painting the figure in monochrome I feel it adds a level of nostalgia and has become a favourite method of working.
