About The Artwork

For some reason I ended up encapsulated in the blurry mood of the situation of hunger and depravity in Africa and what came up is an equivalently moody composition, somehow dull and zombish. Well, let's see what the end entails. Or is it just the beginning of the end? The cotton fabric used was manufactured with a red print already and it is old, probably even older than me but it surprised me that it was still in good shape. I chose it because I thought it would work well to enhance my theme, hinting the fact that this media has been there before, is still is and will continue to be so really is there any end to anything? I want to transition it to a reflection of immortality... only in the sense of intellect and aesthetics but it's nature still remains vulnerable and therefore imperishable. So my characters, the zombie guy is the focal image. He looks like a disabled person but really it is starvation that has made him look so. This is the situation here as it is. People are dying, it's bad.

My work is about itself and where it comes from. It seeks not to separate itself from its executioner and not to liberate itself from the very shackles that proclaim it namely color, people of color and people of low-means. By the latter the intended implication is obviously, to put in simple terms, poverty.
