Threadbare on Pikes Peak Painting

The path up Pikes Peak is relatively well worn. The neat switchbacks at the head of Barr Trail are deceptively easy to tread (if not daunting in their steepness). This changes, however, once you have traveled around 3 miles. You look out over the cities of Manitou and Colorado Springs, now so impossibly far away. When your eyes were on the ground, watching your path for roots and rocks, you were a great creature on a great journey. But now? You are a speck on a foothill. This becomes more poignant in the winter, when you are swallowed by a vast whiteness against a pale blue sky. The wind creeps into your clothes. It almost seems to move through you. You are threadbare. This piece is made with acrylic paint on canvas. A blood red piece of yarn is braided and suspended down the front. Thin, geometric needlework appears in the top and bottom left corners. I'm interested in what you think these symbols mean. Let me know.
