About The Artwork

"The illusion of reality often reveals itself little by little, one piece at a time, falling away until a portal appears. As it opens, the splendor of our true nature emerges in all its exquisite beauty." This painting has been created in 2020, in the period when I meditated about the illusion and reality, where one ends and another begins. This work has been under an exclusivity contract with a Barcelona-based gallery in 2021, and only now I am able to publish it on art platforms. This piece is created with high quality acrylic paint on gallery grade cotton canvas, the paint has been sealed with a protective gel and 2 coats of satin varnish. It is signed, dated, and titled on the back. Photos are edited to best match the true color of each piece. Slight variances may occur, depending on light.

Cristina Balan is an abstract artist. Born in Moldova, she studied arts from the age of five. Very early on, her works were exhibited at various artistic performances in Moldova and abroad. The fall of the Soviet Union paused Cristina’s creative ascension, as after graduating the School of Fine Arts she had to work in the corporate world to be able to support herself. In her thirties, she became a prominent business community leader, and in early forties was appointed as the Ambassador to the United States. In 2019, after an almost 20-year hiatus from painting, Cristina returned full-time to art, her abstract paintings being quickly noticed and appreciated by the public. Contemporary art magazines featured her works. Her paintings have been displayed in art shows in Washington D.C., New York City, and Kiev. Cristina’s works are currently featured by art galleries from NYC, Tokyo, Barcelona and Treviso.
